Matico is a tropical,evergreen pepper shrub that grows vigorously in the high jungle in the Andean Mountains. The verdant, highly fragrant lance-shaped leaves are uniquely green on top and silver underneath, and when brushed or crushed they release an aroma likened to a fresh, cool mountain breeze.

This botanical-biotic shrub was named Matico after the soldier who first discovered its potency when he used the leaves to bandage an injury that healed quickly with reduced discomfort and redness.
